Decadent Recovery Hot Chocolate

December 15, 2014/in Beverages, Recipes

Decadent Recovery Hot Chocolate

There’s plenty of recent research on using chocolate milk as a recovery drink for athletes. Learn more about it here.

This, however, is the warm version of chocolate milk…it’s decadent recovery hot chocolate for athletes!

It’s rich and delicious and doesn’t come in a packet or with any artificial sweeteners. It’s the perfect recovery beverage after a workout in the cold. Flavor it as you choose with extracts, spices (like cinnamon), and your favorite toppings.

Don’t skip the corn starch (or arrowroot starch if your sensitive to corn)! It’s what separates this from your run-of-the-mill hot cocoa by giving it just a bit of thickness. And definitely don’t skip the salt. It enhances flavor and replaces the electrolytes you just lost in sweat.
