Nutrition Tips for a Healthy Holiday

Two of the The Endurance Edge dietitians, Chris and Amber, teamed up for this Find Your Edge podcast to discuss nutrition tips for a healthy holiday.

Did you know that the “average American” gains weight during the holiday season (shocker, I know)? One study examined this, and found that the participants gained, on average, about 1 pound.

Doesn’t seem like much, right? The problem is that the gain is not reversed in the spring and summer months. Over time, this can add up!

In order to prevent this weight gain and focus on health, we offer some of our favorite nutrition tips, like:

  • focusing on family and friends and the social aspect of the holiday, rather than food
  • what slim vs overweight diners at a buffet has to do with our nutrition choices at the holidays
  • how to handle alcohol
  • how incorporating movement is researched to prevent weight loss during the holidays
  • why leaving food on your plate is meaningful
  • and more…
